Over the year, ETOA's highly active board members have tirelessly organized and made several meetings with high government officials and discussed possibilities of developing Tourism in Ethiopia and constraint that affect the industry and of tour operators. They   have also participated in different symposia and workshops that can build the capacity of its members.

ETOA has formed six committees of; Regional issue, membership recruitment and advocacy, conflict resolution, hotels and air lines, fundraising, Promotion and advertising, who are working hard to alleviate the problems taking issues concerning its members with various federal and regional government offices, institutions and Tourism related offices.

ETOA seeks to develop best practice guide lines and develop plan for future long term sustainable development strategy of the sector and of tour operators.

ETOA is smoothly working with Ethiopian Airlines, which is a driving force for the development of Tourism in Ethiopia toward achieving set-up goals. Members of ETOA are participating different travel exhibitions in Europe, Africa, Asia and America to promote the attractions of the country and the Ethiopian Airlines takes big share of realizing this.

Highlites of the Ethiopian Millennium
Ethiopian new millenium is a unique new millennium because ethiopia has its own calendar (the julian calendar). The Ethiopian year comprises 365 days divided in 12 months of thirty days and one additional monthe (the 13th month) of 5 days and 6 days in a leap year. Ethiopia started its millenium on 12 september 2007 which is seven years younger than the western calendar. Actually, the African Union has accepted it as African Millennium. It has also been recogmized by the United Nations.
The new millennium is celebrated through out a solid year (12th September 2007 -11th September 2008). Accordingly different events of the festival have been organized. Among these, the major ones are:

Africa Week - Ethiopia will launch week long celebrations by focusing on her commendable record in the Africa's history of decolonization and in her continued pride and pleasure of continuing to host the head quarters of the African Union. It is scheduled for May 25th 2008

Buy Ethiopian - Designed to give a boost to local products as well as enhance quality. It encourages us to wear national attire during the Millenial event. It is scheduled for the entire year.
Three Exhibitions on Ethiopia's Heritage - designed to showcase of Ethiopia's awe-inspiring aritifacts for a period of four months at a time. These exhibitions are expected to attract a stram of visitors who had come to visit the many archeological wonders of The Cradle of man Kind.

Catalogue of Ethiopian Heritage sites - an unprecedented attempt is made to equip visitors with a birds eye view of existing and new found sites.

Coffee Museum - This generation will reward Ethiopia's gift to the world by establishing state of the art coffee musem in the orgin of coffee in Bonga, In southwestern Ethiopia. Visitors will be able to learn the fascinatinfg story of the wild bean while indluging in the taste of a variety of Ethiopian Coffee. It is scheduled for August 6th 2008.
